And yet on all the obverse of British Commonwealth coins there's a picture of the Sovereign with the inscription "D.G. Rex" (if a king) or "D.G. Regina" (if a queen). The "D" stands for "Dei" or God. (In other words, King or Queen by the Grace of God). Most Americans may trust a god, but don't believe that one should determine a hereditary head of state. Who's greater now?

Oh God. So much ignorance. So much stupidity in this comments section. "The promotion of Darwin as a radical atheist seeking to refute the Bible is idiotic". It doesn't say that ANYWHERE in this picture, or this caption. Americans still can't accept evolution over creationism, but Britons can, that's the point. Don't believe me? Look up the statistics. Britain largely accepts science over religion. The USA largely does not. The UK national anthem has been "God save the queen" for a very, very, very long time. Not changing the national anthem doesn't automatically make you a Christian nation. Putting "In God we trust" on your notes (which was quite a recent addition to the note in fact) means that Christianity is a very large part of your politics. When it comes to science and religion, the USA is behind the UK. Sorry, but that's just the way it is, creationism barely exists here. "God save the Queen" is just a relic of an older century when the vast majority of Britons were Christian by default.

If you flip that $10 bill over, you will see that it has a picture of Alexander Hamilton with his name, in a style very similar to the Charles Darwin picture. Meaning that the British pound isn't replacing the words "in God we trust" with Charles Darwin, it's simply a separate part of the bill. Comparison fail.

Sam, Darwin began as a Christian but throughout his life grew increasingly skeptical. By the time of his death he no longer attended church, instead choosing to walk around the block whilst his wife and kids were at church. He wasn't god hating, but it's exceptionally misleading to call him "Christian".

And it's somewhat difficult to take memes like this in jest when Great Britain's national anthem is "God Save the Queen." The irony is simply overwhelming.

It's actually quite unpopular and there have been many calls to replace it (ironically with 'Jerusalem'...)

Would be funny, except Darwin was a Christian and his research never questioned the existence of a supreme being. The promotion of Darwin as a radical atheist seeking to refute the Bible is just as idiotic as people trying to use the Bible to explain Darwinism.

His ideas are the foundation for the theory evolution. This changed a lot of things in how we see the world. He doesn't have to be an atheist to have ideas that are generally associated with non-religious people.

lol... Im American and even this blows my mind how ignorant you are lol. But honestly, if it wasn't for America, all of England would be gone by now. So stop your hating BS just because we seceded from you over 200 years ago. We won your wars for you, we gave money to your people, we created the United Nations and, wait, where is the headquarters at? Oh, New York. So stop your piss shit reasons that Americans are stupid. If you guys call us stupid and look at all we have done, you all must be full retard.
