Stupid people that know nothing about enonomics! The reason Shanghai has changes so much is due to the fact that the moron communists finally saw the futility of a command economy, and opened the country to foreign investment. Think about it...trillions in private foreign capital, 1.5 billion people, and a labor force willing to work for pennies compared to a vastly over paid western workforce and saturated markets. China is just catching up to the rest of the world!

There is a lot of new buildings but there also a lot of buildings that sill remain between the photographs. It's just had to compare the two as the angle and distance of the pictures is not the same.

All this financed in part by the money generated by American armpits, absconded by the American Uber-Class for investment in the Shanghai, Beijing, and Hang Seng market places after conversion to safer, stronger Yuan and before the collapse of the American, fiat , over-manipulated,devalued, saw-buck on which we can no longer retire! All for cheap labor, and ROI! the GOP has friends that were made wealthy for all this at the expense of the common American worker. Look closely at the Capitalists monument to Corporatism in America: Detroit City! Weep! It is done! GM(America), once Capitalism's shining star, is now but a socialist arm of government, producing a battery car, a people's car, for the Obama's masses who will not be able to afford gasoline in the next round of the oil baron's exploitations - oil at $80.00 a barrel, soon to go to $100.00+ out of avarice and greed, common Saudis running around in Bugatti Veyrons - VW sells them, a million a pop! Asians bid for oil with powerful Yuan, over U,S, fiat -bucks and win hands down every time.America bled from within ans from oil barons has no chance at recovery, we are sinking like a stone! Must get off of oil, must regulate the very bastards the GOP represent and stop the hemorrhaging. Banksters needed prosecution, not silver cloud retirement schemes, but in America the Capitalist reigns supreme? No wonder Shanghai prospers - we paid for it!

You sound like your desperately clinging to a false promise that is actually a sinking ship. Reevaluate your situation, things are about to change.

can only say WOW! I've just been there 3 x in the last two months and it has been polluted and overcast each time, but what a great city. Still has a lot of old buildings, tree lined streets, parks, fab interesting restaurants, neighborhoods and galleries....I'm hooked.
