Okay, it was totally the same in Indiana. Try "my high school experience in the US". We didn't even get taught evolution in AP bio, even though it was the law and was on the AP test. He completely ignored the 5 chapters on natural selection, evolution, Darwin, Galapagos, etc and talked about Jesus instead.

I also went to elementary, middle, and high school in indiana, at a catholic school no less, and we never glossed over anything either.

On the second comment, you were actually incorrect in assuming that the person who found the rosetta stone could read, and understand, hieroglyphics. The rosetta stone was actually used to compare already known languages, such as greek, with the unknown egyptian symbols.
